Door, windows and wall openings can be added to walls, or even placed independently in the plan.

When these are placed on a wall, they will snap onto the wall.  Doors tend return to the default angle if sizing is applied.  So if you need to adjust the size and orientation, first adjust the size and only then proceed to adjust the orientation.   Generally, it is best to use the icon properties box to apply angles numerically.

When general location is required, use the background grid as a reference.  Where more precision is required, add linear dimensions along the wall before adding these icons.
