You can create a plan by modifying an existing plan or creating a new four-walled room of specified dimensions. If you have an image file that represents the plan you want to develop in Icovia, you can import the image to use for tracing purposes.
To develop a plan, add icons by dragging them from the icon browser onto the work area. Modify the icons as needed, either graphically, or by applying specific properties. Icons can be locked if desired. For example, you might draw a room. Then lock icons, walls, dimensions, or floors before experimenting with different interior designs.
Save your plan as soon as it starts to take form. Then use the Copy Plan command to experiment with different designs. The Copy Plan command allows you to make multiple copies of the same plan. Use the property details link to make notes about different plan versions.
Use the Zoom commands and scroll bars to manipulate the view of the plan. You can display or hide icons, walls, floors, text, dimensions and/or imported images as needed. You can also turn colors on and off.
You might find it helpful to display a grid in the work area as a visual reference. In addition to this, you can place dimensions in your plan before or after adding icons. Icon color can be changed for individual icons, or applied to all icons that are added. The similar principal applies to wall widths. You can set a current wall width that is applied to all walls to be added. You can also change the width of individual walls once they have been added to your plan.
When you add walls, they will snap to angles in 45° increments. This does not mean you are restricted to walls at those angles. Use the wall snap 90° command to override this setting.
Save your plan frequently to prevent loss of work. If your network connection is lost for any reason, you will lose all your work since your last save. Email your plan to friends, family and design consultants.
